Description:This is a report on the groundwater resources of the Lower Susquehanna River basin, an area of about 5,606 square miles in south-central Pennsylvania. It includes all of the typical content of a groundwater resource report—a text discussion of hydrology, regional geology, groundwater quality, stratigraphy and water-bearing properties of the rocks, and management of water supplies; tables for water use, summaries of well statistics and water measurements, records of wells and springs, and chemical analyses of groundwater; and a geologic map plate. It also has a water budget for the area, including explanations of the input parameters for the calculation. The report’s 1:250,000-scale geologic map shows many geologic units and the location of selected wells and springs. Each unit and its water-bearing properties are described in the map explanation. A smaller scale map on the plate shows the median hardness of groundwater in the basin.
